8 cities in 2 weeks for Joel, 4 in one week for me. Having a great time, but we are tired. My feet had a meltdown today, even with what should have been comfortable shoes. So many miles to go before we can rest.
I met Joel at noon yesterday on the bridge over the Seine so that we could have our last lunch in Paris. Doesn't he look Parisian in the photo to the left?
We landed late yesterday in Madrid and went to a Tapas
restaurant in Plaza Santa Ana. True to Madrileno form, there were long waits at restaurants at 10 pm. There were even families with small children running around at midnite when we left the restaurant.(Plaza Santa Ana left)
After sleeping in late, we headed to the Museo del Prado. We spent almost 2 1/2 hours there and Joel was a real trooper. I think he even enjoyed it. We got audio guides and he could proudly say that he was able to see things in a couple of
paintings before he heard the description. We may turn him into an art lover yet.We then went to Parque del Retiro, Madrid's Central Park. It was a beautiful day. Sunny and warm and many families were enjoying the day in the park. After a quick lunch by the lake in the park, we headed to Calle de Serrano, the big shopping street. It was a very enjoyable, leisurely day.
Tonite we will go to a Basque restaurant. Tomorrow the city double decker bus tour to rest our tired feet. And also to El Rastro, Madrid's famous street market that is open only on Sundays. It is still a predominantly Catholic coun
try, so many stores and restaurants are closed on Sundays, so we need to do more touristy stuff. Adios for now
Sharon and Joel
Who is the fat crippled old geyser on the bridge? Charles DeGaulle's bastard grandson?
